Where It All Began

About Bibi Art Studio

Bibi has been creating art from a young age, always knowing her life would be woven around creativity. After completing her studies as a BA Graphic Designer, she returned to her first love – Fine Art – with a vision to one day merge both worlds into something truly original.

In a world that constantly chases speed and mass production, Bibi began to notice how small businesses and independent creators were struggling to keep up. Original ideas were either too expensive to sustain or quickly copied by larger companies, making it difficult for innovation to thrive.

When her smoke art began to gain recognition—followed closely by her bronze sculptures—Bibi encountered a challenge she hadn’t anticipated: her artworks were selling faster than she could create them. From this, the idea for Bibi Art Studio was born.

Bibi Art Studio is more than an artist’s portfolio – it’s a growing collection of handmade and heartfelt creations. From wildlife-inspired smoke artworks and bronze pieces to lifestyle merchandise like luxury scatter cushions, designer tote bags, and timeless coasters, every item carries the spirit of something crafted with care. As original artworks, they are impossible to replicate.

Committed to uplifting local talent, Bibi chooses to keep all production and research within South Africa, partnering with small, independent businesses. Each piece is proudly crafted, sewn, tailored, or refined on home soil.

The bags and cushions in her collections are brought to life by a local company that partners with entrepreneurial men and women from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. These artisans are encouraged to own their own equipment and are supported in purchasing and maintaining the tools of their trade. By collaborating with businesses that prioritise empowerment and sustainability, Bibi Art Studio proudly contributes to a supply chain that uplifts people and preserves valuable skills

"It's about more than just 'supporting local'. It's about keeping rare skills, beautiful crafts, and bold ideas alive. And I can't do that alone—but by supporting the dreams of artisans, we can achieve something truly meaningful."

Bibi has known the African bushveld her whole life. It’s no surprise that her first—and most enduring—inspiration is the wildlife that calls it home. Every artwork she creates aims to share a fragment of their story.

Whether drawn from her personal experiences in the wild, childhood memories, or the rich folklore passed down through generations, her goal is not merely to portray an animal, but to breathe life into its spirit—capturing expression, movement, and the quiet intricacies of character.

“Whether you're taking an original artwork home or supporting our artisan designs, I want you to have a story to tell. I want you to look at the creation and feel like you're not only taking a piece with you—but leaving a piece of yourself in the heart of Africa.”

Much of Bibi’s work serves a deeper purpose: raising awareness for wildlife conservation. She has collaborated with sanctuaries and conservation projects in the past and continues to seek ways to amplify the voices of endangered species through her art. Each creation is both a tribute and a call to action—reminding us of the beauty we must protect.

In 2024, Bibi’s work was selected to be exhibited in London as part of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation’s Artist of the Year competition—an international platform dedicated to art that champions wildlife conservation.

The selected piece was inspired by her collaboration with Vulpro, a South African vulture sanctuary that works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and protect endangered vulture species. These birds, often misunderstood and overlooked, play a critical role in ecosystems. Vulpro’s mission—through conservation, education, and research—aims to secure a future for vultures not just in South Africa, but across the African continent. Bibi’s contribution helped shed light on the vital role they play, and the growing threats they face due to human-animal conflict.
